EPL: Tuchel names three big problems Billy Gilmour has at Chelsea

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has named the three ‘big problems’ midfielder Billy Gilmour has at Stamford Bridge.

According to Tuchel, the three problems Gilmour has at Chelsea are N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho.

The Blues boss also insisted that the Scotland international is a vital part of Chelsea’s squad, despite his lack of regular playing time.

Gilmour has featured just once for Chelsea since Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard last January.

The 19-year-old was also snubbed by Scotland coach Steve Clarke for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Austria, Israel and the Faroe Islands later this month.

Speaking on Gilmour during his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup clash with Sheffield United on Sunday, Tuchel said, “It is absolutely no mistake.

“It was, unfortunately, not his choice. It was my choice. The choice was made for Chelsea and not for the personal goals of Billy [Gilmour].

“He accepted it in a five-minute talk. I hope he knows how much I appreciate him.

“He has three big problems: N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho.

“I can only strongly recommend the Scottish national team to nominate him because this guy trains on the highest level.

“They shouldn’t be worried about his ability to compete.”

“But it doesn’t mean like when you’re out of the squad that you first have to find your way back to the bench. You can start the next game. I am happy he is here. We need a strong four midfielders.”
