EPL: Guardiola's Man City sets new Premier League record after 3-1 win over Everton

On Wednesday night, Pep Guardiola's Manchester City set a new English record of 10 consecutive top-flight league wins at the start of a year.

Man City disclosed this in a post via its website on Thursday morning.

The Citizens achieved the record after beating Everton 3-1 in the Premier League fixture at Goodison Park on Wednesday.

Three goals from Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva gave Guardiola's men all three points against Everton.

The victory over Carlo Ancelotti's side means Man City now move clear of Bolton Wanderers, who managed nine league wins in a row at the start of 1904, and Manchester United, who began 2009 with nine on the bounce.

Man City are now 24 games unbeaten in all competitions, with their last defeat coming on November 21 away at Spurs.

City are now 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League table ahead of second-place Manchester United after 24 matches.
