Coronavirus: NBA suspends season indefinitely after player tests positive

The National Basketball Association (NBA) suspended its season indefinitely after an Utah Jazz player tested positive for coronavirus.

The league made the announcement in a statement in order to curtail the pandemic.

"The NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of Wednesday night's schedule of games until further notice

"The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic," the league said in a statement.

The National Hockey League also noted that it is still consulting with medical experts before making final decisions for its ongoing season.

"We expect to have a further update," the NHL added.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA also announced that its men and women college basketball tournaments, popularly known as "March Madness," will henceforth play in arenas without fans because of coronavirus fears.
