What Mourinho told Lampard ahead of Manchester United's Carabao Cup match

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has revealed he has spoken to his former coach Jose Mourinho ahead of Derby County's Carabao Cup match with Manchester United.
Both figures will meet eye to eye in the opposing dugouts as the former England star will be leading Derby to Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Lampard's side are currently sixth on the Championship table, recording five wins in nine matches including Saturday's 3-1 over Brentford.

United, on other hand, have had a slow start to their campaign in the Premier League as they had a disappointing 1-1 against Wolves at the weekend.

"I'm looking forward to seeing him," Lampard said of Mourinho following the win over Brentford.
"On a personal level, he was a manager who was very influential on my career.
"We've spoken in the last 24 hours to congratulate me but it was very brief but we talked family. I learned a lot from him and I appreciate it."
Lampard was asked how he plans to stop United, saying: "We know what we're coming up against. A great Manchester United team that's been put together.
"The fact we're on telly against one of the best teams in the Premier League is a challenge for us. If we put in the energy we did today then we'll give a good account of ourselves.
"We must do it because it's going to be a very tough ask. What we can't do is go there and walk away and say we should've done this or that. We have to give everything and make sure it doesn't pass you by.
"Whether we can win or not is a very tough order but we need to have our fans coming away proud of the team."
